At Zest Patisserie, all of our techniques and processes are designed to make sure that our cakes consistently meet high expectations. Here’s a quick behind the scenes look at the ingredients, processes, and delivery procedures we use to make sure that every cake is baked to perfection …

Our Ingredients and Processes:

Fresh Cream and Butter

Working with high-quality ingredients like fresh cream and butter requires temperature controlled environments, which is why we keep our kitchen consistently cool for the best results. Natural cream and fresh butter have a better flavour and texture than imitation products like vegetable oils and fats, which many bakeries throughout Australia use as they are cheaper and easier to work with. 

Couverture

We use couverture chocolate in our mousses, which is chocolate made from cocoa beans and liquor set on rich cocoa butter. The texture of the chocolate is derived from a mixing process called conching, which creates a finer texture in the end product. This differs from cheaper substitutes like compound chocolate, which is set on vegetable fats and usually artificially flavoured and coloured. 

Vanilla Bean

We use natural vanilla bean in our cakes and pastries, which has been cured on the plant for up to eight months! Using the skin of the bean and the vanilla bean itself, our vanilla tastes superior to vanilla essences. 

Our Delivery Process:

It’s important to us that every cake delivered arrives in immaculate condition. That’s why we make sure to deliver with care, using refrigerated vans and sturdy cake boxes so that no cakes are damaged on the way. If any of our cakes are damaged in transit, we’ll gladly resend your cake or offer a refund for the inconvenience!
